To start, we need to unlock the phone

Go straight to the Facebook Messenger application

It looks like a white and blue icon with a lightning sign inside of it. Give it a single tap to open it, and it will take us to the "Recent" chat window.

We need to go to the "People" section

If we look on our bottom menu bar, the third icon says "People". Give it a tap and it will show all of the people who are online. Unlike the Facebook application itself, if we close the chat on Facebook to keep ourselves offline, but we're still using the application, we lose the option to see who else is online. In Facebook, we can see who's online even when we deactivate our online status.

To do that, we need to turn this little green switch off

Let's turn it off. We can not see people who are online in the Messenger.

Let's go to the Facebook application

Close Messenger and open Facebook. Tap on Facebook.

When we open the chat by swiping our finger we can see people who are online and offline

Messages sent through the chat functions of Facebook remain private. You can configure your Privacy within the app as shown in the above Zack Tube video on Android. If you do not want anyone reading your messages, be sure to sign out of the Messenger App. If someone is on your tablet, they will not be able to view your messages unless you are signed in. You can do this within the App Settings.

How do I get rid of what I've mentioned?. I have tried: Sliding the bar to the left gives the option to hide, but they keep reappearing. I think it was caused by: Some new version of the Messenger maybe?

This is one of the most frustrating implementations in the Messenger App. Tap the three dotted lines in the right corner above Favorites, Active, and Groups. You will have to keep hiding every time you get a new message or content. There is nothing permanent as a solution from the app developers yet.

Hi Kara, I would like to know if someone has hidden their status from me?

Not sure whether they are not online or have hidden their status. I had sent her a message which has been showing as delivered for the past 2 days. Had chatted with her 2 days back and after that did not see her online. Had sent 2 messages yesterday which was showing as just delivered. Is it possible that she has prevented me from seeing her status and also make it seem like she hasn't seen my messages? She hasn't blocked me for sure as I can still access her page and sent her messages as well. Just to add our last interaction was not in any way unpleasant. Please advise

She may have nothing to say to you or has not checked her messages. Some people log out of Messenger to keep the notifications down to whenever they want to check them. If you can access her page, or send her a message through the PC version of Facebook, she has not blocked you.

If I turn off active status on my Facebook with my laptop, but not from my phone iPhone 7 am I still seen by people using their phone? this seems to be a situation where I have to turn off both. . . what do I need to do?
